NY Recruits

We have been able to get a couple of good NY recruits Trill, Fuentes, Matthews but we seem to strike out on the best overall talent. We also do not offer other good players in NY Addison Copeland Pitt from Buffalo to name just one.
What do posters think are some of the reason NY recruits do not want to stay in state?
I initially thought it maybe they wanted to go away for school but some of these players live at least 4 to 5 hours from SU. Others do not even get offered and then go star at other programs.
Is there anything other than winning the staff could do to get NY players to stay in state and play for SU?

Each recruit selects schools for any hundred of possible reasons. Certainly if we won more, were ranked and stuff that would help but sometimes kids don't want to play in their backyard so to speak and want to leave state. I think Syracuse does well enough on in state talent all things considered. Win more and we get possibly a few more. Merry Christmas folks!

the city has issues...
home games= 31k in the dome
sputtering offenses...

There is hardly ANY TALENT at all in a 2 hour radius of Syracuse.
PITT and BC have talent...and then seem to be able to recruit a few more
highly rated from down south.
Need a bit more than to say "Hey, the fishin' is good."

NYS is devoid of talent, time is much better spent on the higher hit rate DMV area and down south. Simple as that, not sure why we pretend like update offers literally anything regarding consistent football talent.

Not totally devoid of talent. Syracuse just doesn’t land it. Coan( Wisconsin and ND) and Rucker (Ohio State) are Long Island NY products. Maybe if Babers started winning?
