I traveled up to Friday's game with my son, something we used to do every year when he was a young boy (he's now 30.) The campus looked good, but not lively. Very few people walking around. Really liked the team marching through the campus past the Ernie Davis statue to the stadium and stood there with AJ Long's father as they walked by.  It's a nice ceremony that should become really good ritual and tradition, I can only imagine what it would be like at Alabama, Notre Dame, etc.  It's something the students, fans, alumni and other SU teams should consider supporting. Fans provide the enthusiasm and vibrancy necessary for a successful team.

As for the team, aside from the obvious mistakes and decisions I thought they played hard. I will leave it to others to comment on play calling and coaching.

As for recruiting I can't for the life of me understand why #44 was retired[B][I] it[/I][/B] [B][I]is the best recruiting point Syracuse has and will ever have: it could attract running backs and the O line to support them, why tie one recruiting hand behind your back?  The entire stadium honors the accomplishments of past stars many of whom wore #44. Why emphasize that without focusing on the future too? Bring back #44 and let's see what happens. [/I][/B]
