Time to turn the page. The last month showed how flawed a team we are. But for better or worse if you're on this board you are a cuse football diehard. This program is at a crossroads. Are we slipping to Greggers levels of ineptitude or is there hope? Temple just had college game day and almost pulled off an upset in a packed stadium. We're in a tougher conference than before but really not that much different than the miama and vtech big east of past years. We've upgraded facilities. The kids give an all out effort on the field and are still young giving some hope. We will always be a team that has to rely on upper classmen who are more physically mature than more talented freshman and sophomores on upper tier teams. Last night as someone pointed out 20 of the 22 starters on temple were juniors or seniors. To be good this is what our players on the field should predominantly be made up of. It's a fact of geography. Kids talented enough to start at fsu or Clemson as under classmen will not come to Syracuse. So we have to find ways to win. We need to push the envelope. We can't be conservative but we also can't be reckless. Every possession matters. The margin of error is thin this year but in reality is thin every year. The troubling part about yesterday were the calls at the end of the first half. It did not matter yesterday but it might next week. Or against nc state or bc. Or next year when we will still be young and breaking in a young offensive line. This program needs to develop players and take advantage of the dome. it needs to take an honest assessment at the end of the year regarding what it working and what is not- this is true for the head coach and the AD. We are what our record says we are. 3-5 and on the outside looking in of a bowl. The good news is that we have a chance in 3 out of the next 4 games. The team is better than before but the staff and players need to improve in every facet from S&C to recruiting to game preparation. It will be interesting to see where things go.
