Don't want to belabor shrader's weaknesses, but all the people who thought this offense is finger quote figured out, I'm all ears for what we should be running instead.

Because scoring at all with this passing ability is impressive

his misses are quite interesting.. but he made several pretty nice throws. . much of it is he just throws a tad late at times and his footwork is off.

He is about what you'd expect from a wide receiver who didn’tplay QB last year and only got split reps at camp. He will be much better next year with more practice and familiarity with receivers. If he settles at 58-60% completion rate we will be a tough out.

It was bad in the 1st half, not sure what was going on but seemed like the playcalling was off. 2nd half the execution got a lot better.

some plays we need to make.. Like the first drive he had Benson wide open and missed him by 5 yds.
interesting that at home we struggled vs Rutgers/Clemson/BC where the D did more than enough to win the games for us.. Those are the games were just avg passing would have probably won all 3.

The offense is mostly two dynamic runners with an OL creating the gaps needed for them to get into the open field. Our TE's are blocking well and it's noticeable. They're a great combo that perhaps is our best all time QB/RB combined running game. I think Shrader will get better throwing the football but we're run first almost all the time. It's working to record proportion. We're also better in the red zone than in recent memory. Playmakers are wonderful things to have and we have two full time examples...and that's just on offense...

At some point, opposing defenses are going to have to put much more attention on stopping the SU running game.

They put 8 guys in the box and only were playing against the run yesterday. They couldn't have sold out for the run anymore than they did. We scored 2 O td's yesterday and they were the result of two long runs.

I know, and still 2 long TD runs. If you're a DC scheming against that, you're going to have to put even more assets against it. The passing game should have a big day at some point.

Garrett needs to spend the off season throwing to his WR's and throwing to stationary and moving targets at least three times a week. Chemistry between receivers and QB needs development. It isn't there yet. Our entire team is full of Freshman.

If he has a QB coaching guru, Garrett needs to work with him since along with the lack of a ST coach we have no QB coach. Repeat all winter to get his footwork right, release point and have the coach timing him to see how fast he can get rid of the ball and be accurate as well.

He is capable of throwing the long tight spirals we need him to throw as he did on the last offensive play at VT. He is a very good QB, we need excellent. Play fakes with Sean are also needed keeping it in Sean's belly and pulling it out when he sees he has room to run isn't easy and needs perfect timing and finesse - he's been great at this so far.

Airon Servais won't be around to protect him next year but the core of the OL will. Davis is a RJr, Bleich is a RSo, Bergeron is a So, and both Cruz and Ellis are Fr. So he'll have protection. #47 Mang another Fr from Europe was back for protection but sometimes looked lost.

If he does this, he has the qualities to be an excellent QB which we were used to. Now we've got another, great, but he needs tutoring.

McNabb
Dungey
McPherson
Graves
Nassib
Shrader?

Bill Hurley is also on that list.

The two long TD runs actually occurred because they were selling out to stop the run.

If your an opposing DC, you had better think of something. Going to have to play off their man a lot and watch for the run.

They have been. There's not much more they can do schematically. At some point it's about beating the guy in front of you. It's worked to an extent, as we have sputtered at times. Some timely passing helped win us the VPI game. I'm hoping that getting some health along the oline and with Shrader will make it that much harder for defenses.

Hate to say it , but if you are hoping Shrader will become a more accurate passer with another offseason I think you will be let down. Accuracy seems to be something you either have or don’t . I’m sure he can work on footwork and technique, but let’s be honest this won’t be the last time this conversation is had and I’m fine with it. The kid is a gamer

Tucker had another long run too. A few more were ankle tackles away as well.
