OrangeExtreme and CuseLegacy have scheduled the day off, as a result I have initiated today’s official BYE Game Thread. Apologies in advance, I am nowhere as savvy at this as OX and CL; however, they have been on a hectic 8-week run, with emotions and activities running the full gamut, generally several times within the same game! Thus, they have earned their one day break before heading into the home stretch and you are stuck suffering with me. Just deal with it, OX and CL will be back next week.
Don’t expect cool pics like OX and CL post. I neither possess their skill at locating and posting the cool pics and tweets and stuff, nor do I seem to care enough to want to learn. Send all complaints to OX and CL as I probably don’t care to respond or even read them. Besides, this may convince them to never take a day off, again. Naturally, my lack of tech savvy may explain why I have never been invited to be a mod, well, that and the fact that I would never take the job; you couldn't pay me enough to deal with people like me during a game!
Fortunately, today’s opponent isn’t really worth discussing, so you will not need to read SWC’s analysis to prep for the game. (By all means, if SWC writes his weekly pregame analyses, enjoy them, they are usually good reads – shameless plug for SWC, keep it up my Orange friend, we appreciate them).
Location: The Carrier (possibly soon to be re-named) Dome, Syracuse (Note: no "Sarah" in Syracuse)
Kickoff: Who Cares
Keys to the Game: Syracuse: Survive the day with no injuries, make no mistakes and avoid a loss
BYE: Screw with Syracuse momentum, psyche, and let Syracuse fall prey to overconfidence.
Tailgate: TexanMark has the week off. Mrs. TexanMark has claims on his whereabouts 1 Saturday every fall and this is the day. Enjoy your time with Mrs. TexanMark and pass along our thanks for lending you to us for the other 12 Saturdays. We got a heck of a deal on this bargain, small price to pay to let Mark go 1 week. Of course, if Mrs. TexanMark goes shopping each week that Mark hosts a tailgate, he may be sacrificing much more than we will ever know. Net result: Today’s spread is basically whatever you can scrounge from the fridge, delivery pizza or whatever. The Fine Mess has left me in a fine mess.
Gameday Activities: Raking leaves, Golf, Other CFB Games, Honey-do List, Netflix
Coverage: Nobody wants to cover BYE anymore. ESPN, the ACCN, and even the local TV and radio stations are rejecting coverage of BYE.
Parking: Today should not prove too problematic, per SU officials. They expect relatively smooth ingress and egress vs. BYE.
No many folks here to watch BYE, though it is early yet. This is almost like a UConn home game, but at least our University personnel outnumber their game day attendance.
HCDB has said not to expect great things from the offense today. The offense today is expected to be rather vanilla, plain, nothing to write home about. Still, it will be better than watching paint dry, which in itself is far more productive than watching Rutger’s offense. So we got that going for us.
We have locked up TheCusian in safety as we know many will be on him later if Syracuse does not make some really big plays. For his own good, we have limited his access to the game thread.
With the vast improvements on defense the last two weeks, I don’t believe that Syracuse will let BYE score. HCDB is not one to repeat mistakes and he has the total buy-in of these kids, I expect to see no shocking plays in the box score allowed today.
Alsacs is reporting that he finds no way that Syracuse loses to day, ensuring that Syracuse does not face Clemson with a losing record.
Millhouse is running stats, we hope to see some of those as the game progresses. They better be good!
I don’t see any Tubas, but I will await SUTomcat’s official post game report, “My Take”. Hopefully, Tom can give us good news this week regarding the marching band and the Tuba count. I think I saw four last week, far too few to be taken seriously as a marching band. You cannot have a marching band without tubas! I stand with Tom on this issue! - My name is HtownOrange and I approve this ad.
Since ESPN is ignoring Syracuse on its Gameday Broadcast, I will give you my view: BYE may be good for the players but as a fan, playing BYE stinks! I am still calling for patience as HCDB has called for an 18 game implementation period and we are not quite halfway there. That said, I remain cautiously optimistic and my gut says BYE does not get the W! If I had a mascot head, I wouldn’t pull a Lee Corso and put it on, but you have it in print, no way Syracuse walks away with a loss.
Well, there you have it. By now, Jake and Bees are fighting over who will temporarily suspend me, they both want to do so after reading this. My solution is to not let OX and CL have another day off, but you see how well that worked. Anyway, enjoy Syracuse – BYE.
