Beautiful evening for football. Rainbow appeared right before kickoff and the breeze was wonderful. Christian and Jewish traditions teach that the rainbow was a promise from God to mankind after the flooding of the world that he would never flood the world again. It was a covenant made to man that there are new and wonderful beginnings and the old can be washed away. One could speculate and wonder if this is an omen for the upcoming season. Many season ticket holders moved to the bleachers as the season ticket side had people sitting below the offensive players and the sun was setting in the eyes of the fans on that side. First few things I noticed:

I don't know how much of a write up we will get from Bam as his hands were full with JJ and he was chasing him around most of the game. couchburn
Mr. Daddy Deurig is huge. He might have been the biggest man on the field during the after game promotions.
Much to the whizzbang fruitdeloop supercalifraglisticexpealadocious Bud the bobacious bumbles demise, we should already be pursuing Young Pickard as the kid is going to be a big boy by the time he hits senior year. Write me an article about that brosephus. The Pickard boys are very close as Jake was hanging out and getting his younger brothers involved.
Nick Robinson has a beautiful young family. I assume the lady that was with him was his wife and the most adorable little girl he was holding the whole time was his daughter. Seems like a great father and husband/bf. (character)
Missy was super cordial with the fans stopping to talk to anyone who approached her.
Elsa seems to be an amazing young lady and spent a good bit of time playing with Acosta's little girls who are adorable. She is awesome with children.
SS really put an emphasis on getting involved with families and was eager to get down on one knee and take pictures with the wee ones.
The Shafers' really are amazing people. Didn't see Wolfgang as he has been at these things in the past. I assume he is at IC camp preparing to lose to Cortland again this year... Go Dragons!
The staff really is really high character and they practice what they preach. The whole program is family orientated and you see the brotherhood in the team.
I was walking by the players as they came on and off the field and they are a tight nit group and it mirrors the type of people the staff are.
I am just going to throw this out here but I could see a wedding in a few years with one Ms. S and a young recruiter Mr. W. My gf was the one who mentioned it and both Ms. S and Mr. W seem to be outstanding people.
Coyle is a perfect fit for Syracuse and the staff. He fits right in with SS and the bunch.

The players are all very well put together and there are no slobs out there. Even the walk-ons are legit. Hill did some pretty awesome things tonight. He would disappear in the trees and come scooting out the other side.
Clark is a man. Kid is a legit SEC type player. Kid has NFL written all over him.
Amir, Pickard, and Sheppard are going to be pretty nice ends in a couple of years. They already have the size but, unlike Clark, are not used to the speed of the game. This was practice 8, and I would not be surprised to see one if not all get some run this year if need be.
Carter might be the best out of the bunch when their careers are done. This kid has overcome a lot and life is just now showing him the beautiful parts of it. I think he takes it all in and runs with it. When you have been through the valley like he has, you learn much more about all of life, including small obstacles like football, and many times can come out much more amazing than those that have not had those experiences. The kid is a sponge talking with upper classmen on the sidelines. His frame is ridiculous and a few years in a legit S@C is going to do wonders.
Cross did some good thing and, like his tape in HS, gets great leverage. His pads are very low to the ground.
Luke, Samuels, and Simmons got good push with Luke being the best rusher. For the most part they went against the 2's.
Thompson is precautionary and I would not worry to much about the boot and crutches. After last year, the staff are not going to take and chances as many who did not play were held out because of minor strains and bangs. We have the depth and luxury to sit players this year.

Not to much to say about the lines. The 1st gave Hunt time to throw and provided decent protection and running lanes. This was against the 2's. Trudo looked secure at C and Emerich will probably be his back up.
The LB corp is legit and could be best in the last decade. I see a lot of rotation here as there is plenty of depth and all can run and play.
We have our starting 3 in Bennet, Ziare, and Hodge. I think the DL will do its job opening holes and these guys are going to murder some QB's. Think Rutgers/WVU.
Shy did well today. His first play out he allowed the receiver to catch the ball on a short cross that he (Shy) misjudged and could have had it for a pick.
Henderson is a beast already. Just got to get used to the next level.
The secondary is going to be better this year than the past and we have a couple of stud safeties. Williams is jacked and will possibly be the best S in a long while.
Whigham is a man who is in turmoil. I really think he is haunted by last year. I think last year he was haunted by the freak injury from the year before. He seemingly put it behind him and played really well and you could see the despair in his face after the injury. I am not to sure how bad the injury is but he was walking around on it through out the after game promotions. Many of his brothers in the secondary were came and joked with him. The best line was from Mr. Morgan who said, "He's just trying to get a week off." I think if it was mega serious, he would have been carted off to the locker room . Might seem him out like Thompson.
The rb's ran hard tonight and I think we get much more from this position. It was reported that there was a rift between Adam and GM in what they were trying to run. The line is blocking much better and opening some holes. There was way to much side to side last couple of years and seemingly much more focus to go South North. Morris ran much better tonight and Devante is going to be a legit starter. I do see some young bloods pushing them for pt. They are just that good.
Conway is a giant as well as Ward. I am hoping that Ward gets it together and can contribute. There was a lot of hype and I hope he meets it.
Didn't see much from the rest of the freshman line. I expect most if not all to redshirt. We have nice depth here.
Erv, Estime, Ish, and Lewis seem to be our go to guys in the passing game. We did nothing with the TE's. Custis and Adly were no where to be seen. Womack seems to be going to WR fulltime. He got off the line better tonight and that was against the 1's. It might take him a season to learn the position but I could see him being Ish 2.0. Ish is a legit sized receiver and add some serious size.

Ish, Erv, Estime caught punts. Ish is the best out of the bunch as far as fielding the punt. The kid has Charmin hands.
Hunt looked more poised in the pocket. He threw some nice intermediate throws. Wilson is the 2nd and I am not sure what he can do. He does throw a nice ball. Dungey is third right now. He has a lot of growth to make but could be good to above good. I think we might see Long redshirt this year. Didn't see much of anything deep.
Dixon could be all ACC as a punter and the freshman was not shabby either. Both had low line drives their first punt but both boomed them after that.
Murphy is going to be solid. Norton kicked the ball better than last year. They both did miss longer kicks. Norton still has the longer leg but lost his mojo with all his off the field antics I think.
All in all, I think this was the best event I have been to. What a gorgeous night and beautiful summer in CNY. We do have a tight and family oriented program starting from the boss running all the way down to the walk-ons and managers. As in the spring game, everything was very vanilla. I don't think we got even a snippet of what the O is going to look like this year. We have good depth and a lot of talent on the sidelines. 1's went against 2's. We cannot take much away from what we saw tonight other than: Hunt looks more poised in the pocket, team is in great shape physically, LB's are going to be the heart of the D, we are thin but very good at S, secondary is going to do much better than last year. I do think we are going to see much more from the TE position. I can also see our big receivers Custis and Adly being much more involved in the expanded playbook. The picture with the team and kids was phenomenal and will be a great recruiting tool once it is hung up in the football wing and parents of recruits see it. Recruiting is only going to pick up with the facilities and staff's personalities. Very wonderful men with great hearts. If we can put the W's together we will start to really take off. The biggest question to be answered is, can they put it all together. I see why a family like the Washington's and Culpepper's committed here. I see why Coyle supports SS and staff. We have the best talent we have had sense the 90's. Can SS put it together or will we have a new staff in a few years. Between the last few classes and what we have coming in, I think he does. I would buy this penny stock as I am pessimistically bullish about its future.
