Another speculation guy. No reported offer yet. Philly kid, played HS ball in MD, looks like he will be in the portal. Followed on Twitter by Coach ERob, Douglas and Cuse FB Recruiting.
Committed to Baylor out of HS.
At Baylor:
RS in 2020 (Covid year)
RF year in 2021 - played 9 games
RS year in 2022 - played 11 games, 10 starts, graded as 2nd best OG in Big 12 by PFF
Transferred to Florida (2023)
RJ year in 2023 - started 11 of 12 games
So looks like a 1 year guy but pretty high quality OG.
MICHA MAZZCCUA IN PORTAL FROM FLA
#54 OG 6' 5" 325
One of Florida's starting offensive linemen is expected to enter the NCAA Transfer portal. According to 247Sports Matt Zenitz, Florida offensive guard
Micah Mazzccua is expected to enter the portal ahead of his final year of eligibility.
Mazzccua spent one year with the Gators this past season after transferring from Baylor. He started at right guard for the Gators in 11 out of 12 games this past season. He totaled 743 snaps for the Gators in the 2023 season. After losing former guard O'Cyrus Torrence to the NFL Draft following the 2022 season, the Gators were in the market for a transfer guard. The viewpoint on Mazzccua that made him appealing for the Gators was the similarities they saw between he and Torrence.
“Micah is kind of like (Torrence) when it comes to you can teach a concept one time and he has it," Florida offensive line coach
Rob Sale said head of the 2023 season. "Some guys got to take notes, write it down, do a walkthrough. Micah kind of just looks at you and goes ‘Alright.' You think, ‘Do you got it or not?' He’s like, ‘I got it’ and sure enough, he gets it.
Before his lone season with the Gators, Mazzccua was a two-year starter at Baylor. He was viewed as a high-level run-blocker from the left guard position, ranking ninth among Power 5 guards with a 78.5 run-blocking score in the 2022 season. He also recorded 14 big-time blocks that season, according to Pro Football Focus, which was tied for second among all guards nationally.
Mazzccua played 759 snaps in the 2022 season, and started 11 games a year after he appeared in
nine contests for a Baylor team that won the Big 12 Championship in 2021. While Mazzccua didn't play as many snaps that year (139), he still maintained a very solid 74.3 run blocking grade after redshirting in 2020.
While there was some though Mazzccua was likely to head to the NFL Draft, he will instead enter the portal looking for a new home. He had
teased intentions of entering the portal during the spring earlier this year, but later deleted his tweet saying he would do so. He instead stayed and played through the year with the Gators.
"He got some freakin’ dog in him.”
