I guess Michigan has one, and PSU has one, so OSU is just following along.
I wonder if this will bring to an end the "Showdowns in the Shoe", before Spring football game.
I haven't heard of any. A lot of tradition in lacrosse being played in Maryland (Byrd) stadium.I think this will be better than watching games in the mostly empty giant shoe. Will Maryland be next? I have fond memories as a kid seeing a lot of good games at Byrd but I wonder if they have any plans on building a lacrosse only venue?
I find the seating rather low in the Big Ten lax only stadiums:
Michigan and OSU 2000
PSU 1300
It doesn't appear that they are optimistic about getting good crowds anytime soon. Seems sort of dinky dunk.

Isn't Homewood lacrosse only.
UVA and Duke don't play in their football stadiums

The attendance for the Hopkins game in 2019 was 12,045. Maryland has also gotten crowds of 5,000+ for Navy and UVA in the past.
I knew about UVA and Duke playing other sports in their rinkydink stadiums, I was wondering how different it was from lacrosse only.Hop uses Homewood for Football, Soccer, Field Hockey and LAX
UVa shares Klockner for LAX and Soccer
Duke shares Koskinen for LAX and Soccer
UNC shares Dorrance for LAX and Soccer
ND uses Arlotta for LAX only
I think the artificial surface became necessary when they put in the large press tower with luxury boxes. The tower would essentially put half the field in shade during late winter and early spring. That half of the field would become pretty muddy.Yeah I agree I mean I remember watching MD upset Hopkins in the 95 semi as well as beating UVA in the 97 quarters and then Hopkins in the 98 quarters. I realize these were all tournament games held at Byrd but still speaks to your point. Honestly it's a minor thing but I think I miss the natural grass surface of the "old" days, when it wasn't obvious that the field was used for 4-5 different sports.
i don't know how big duke's place is, but klockner holds at least 8k. not the same as the rinkydink 2k that are going up now.I knew about UVA and Duke playing other sports in their rinkydink stadiums, I was wondering how different it was from lacrosse only.
In the end, I think there are very few lacrosse only stadiums in the top half of D1 and Michigan and PSU have only had theirs for a few years.
I think Dukes site said their place has 4500 seats with standing room up to 7000. UNC's place has 4500 seats. ND's place only has 2500.i don't know how big duke's place is, but klockner holds at least 8k. not the same as the rinkydink 2k that are going up now.
Princeton says, "We realize it's been a while, but we've won championships, too."Good for them. Number of NCAA champions who played in a lacrosse only facility - 1 - Denver.

I believe they won before they had the lacrosse only facility though. Used to share with field hockey.Princeton says, "We realize it's been a while, but we've won championships, too."
