Orangeville wins their third game tonight 12-9 over the host Coquitlam Adanacs. And the Northmen did it without their top 4 offensive players - Joey Spallina, Trey Deere, Liam Matthews & Bowie Horsman (see my prior post above). The Northmen played a spirited hard hitting game and led the whole way after an early 2-1 deficit. Backup goalie Lindyn Hill, the Northmen's starting goalie for much of the regular season before they acquired Conor O'Toole at the trade deadline, was in goal tonight and was outstanding. With this game, 3 teams ended round robin play with 2-1 records but Coquitlam won the #1 seed based on goals, primarily based on their 17-7 Sunday night over the Saints. (Orangeville needed to win tonight by 8 goals to get the #1 seed.) [Sorry Laxfanshutt, the tiebreaker is not goal differencial but is a formula based on the percentage of GF over GF+GA in games against the teams that have same records.] As a result, Orangeville plays in the semi-final game tomorrow night (10pm ET) against the Port Coquitlam (Poco) Saints, who they lost to in the first game 12-7. That first game might have been one of the poorest games the Northmen played all season. Tomorrow night they will be the more rested team having taken advantage of knowing after the first game tonight that they'd likely be playing tomorrow. The winner of tomorrow night's semi-final game plays Coquitlam in a best 2 out of 3 finals starting Thursday night.
