The Northmen had taken the first 2 goal lead of the game late in the 2nd period but the Saints quickly tied it.  The Saints took a 9-8 lead on a power play early in the 3rd period but they didn't score again.  The Northmen took at 2 goal lead with about 10 minutes to go and didn't look back.  Trey Deere had 3 goals in the 2nd period on a natural hat trick and then 4 in the 3rd period.  The day of rest yesterday for some of the key Northmen players, including goalie Conor O'Toole, may have made the difference.  Another key was that the Saints took 8 penalties to the Northmen only 4.

Jake Spallina and Donny Scott played the whole game and played well on defense.  Jake took most of the faceoffs.

Orangeville goes on to play in the Minto Cup finals against the host Coquitlam Adanacs.  It's a best 2 out of 3 starting Thursday night and continuing Friday night and, if necessary, Saturday night.  These two teams have played each other many times in the Minto Cup finals.
