Trying to remember what the lineup was coming out of spring ball. What is our best guess for starting lineup, assuming everyone is healthy come August? Which guys exhaust eligibility this year?

I'm trying to see who will be blocking for Washington next year. Could some of this year's incoming freshmen be starters in 2016?

foy and hayes were 2 of the starters at the spring game

I also recall hearing that Roberts made some noise, so I'd expect to see him starting on the interior in 2016.

This year I am hoping that Ward works his way into starting at one tackle, so we can field Foy/Robinson/Trudo/Palmer/Ward. Tackle really scares me, though. Behind Ward we have a lot of developmental prospects. Great size, but who knows how they'll pan out. Wish we had Adkins teaching them.

I believe it was...

LT Foy
LG Robinson
C Emerich
RG Roberts
RT Palmer

My personal opinion is that Foy and Palmer are far ahead of the other tackles and unless one is hurt, they are going to be the starters there.

Trudo is going to start, the only question is where. I think the staff really wants him at center. Right now Roberts is ahead of Hayes. I think he stays ahead of him, giving us the following starters for next year:

LT Foy
LG Robinson
C Trudo
RG Roberts
RT Palmer

In the fall, Foy will be a senior, this is his last year of eligibility.
Robinson will be a senior, this is his last year of eligibility.
Trudo will be a senior, this is his last year of eligibility.
Roberts will be a sophomore. He is likely to start in 2016.
Palmer will be a senior academically but a junior eligibility wise. He will surely start again in 2016.

Projected starters for 2016 (*=my best guess):

LT Conway* or McGloster
LG Hayes
C Emerich or Duerig*
RG Roberts
RT Palmer

Projected starters for 2017:

LT Conway
LG Hayes
C Duerig
RG Roberts
RT Evans

That 2016 OL is going to be young but it will be pretty big and athletic. The 2017 unit projects to be really really good.

Nice job Tom. I don't even see Ward on there, who hopefully realizes his potential!

I really want Ward to beat out Palmer, who I find to be our weak-link on the OL. With Ward's size and hopefully improved skill, I could totally see him improving our run game.

Doubt it will happen this year. Needs to lose weight.

You don't have the two incoming Freshman from Florida on there for 16 or 17. Why not? They are two big kids playing in the biggest of high school leagues, 6A in S FL.
I think both will play and end up as starters but I don't think they are as good and/or as experienced as some other players on the roster. I could be wrong...

I hope they RS...but given our injury luck...they'll play the second half of the season.

Roberts is who I was talking about not hayes

Right there with you. Our interior OL is solid, and looking good for years to come. Tackle on the other hand is scary, really scary. Palmer may have to start at RT this year, but he is an interior lineman. Losing Knapp will haunt us. What we really need is for Ward to get his act together, and Evan Adam can't be a miss. If I was the staff I would recruit at least 3 OT's this class. The future is a huge question mark.

LT worries the hell out of me. Foy is not capable of competing against quick DE's on that side IMO. I hope he has improved leaps and bounds.

Hopefully I'm wrong or Lester will figure it out.

The real worry to me looking at that progressive depth chart that sutomcat put together is not seeing Denzel Ward on the list anywhere.

He must be really out of shape, as he was arguably our top recruit two years ago.

I would not be surprised to see the staff bring in a juco or two at tackle this year

You always pound this drum, but we tend not to land highly rated JUCO OL [the lone exception being Tiller, who was hand delivered]. Need a highly rated guy, not just a JUCO warm body.

Palmer is far from the weak link. He was forced to play out of position at RT due to injuries / deficiencies of some of the other tackles.

McGloster is ahead of Ward from what I know. I'd be surprised if Ward sees the field this year, albeit pleasantly.

Do we think Lasker can maybe move to DL and provide a little depth in the Zian Jones kind of mold?? I'd rather Kendall Moore lining up at any of the OL positions than him.

I'd love if SU could somehow find the room and $$ to get Anselmo back and hire him as a full time Special Teams coach. He and Acosta in the NY/NJ/PA/North East region would be quite the recruiting tandem coupled with Anselmo's connections to the JC route. Moreover, Anselmo is one heckuva coach. He's staying on with the Bills, apparently, as a Special Teams Assistant.

Well RF go pound:) looks like we just offered a juco OL

That's the kind of kid we need to land [or a Mavety]. But absent being able to bring in a JUCO OL of this caliber, who can crack the two deep immediately and challenge for a starting role, I'm not in favor of JUCO OL. Historically, we haven't had much success traversing that route.

Those are the kind of JUCO offers I like. If we are able to grab either one of those 2 kids i'd be extremely thrilled. I just don't want to see us reach for some JC kid that may or may not be able to make the 2 deep in his 2 years.

Since these 2 offers are on the elite side, i'm not sure if we should read into it? Otherwise i'd think we aren't exactly thrilled with the development of Burton, McGolster, and Ward.

Just read scoot and we offered two JUCO tackles that are mammoth, both 4 stars and playing in NYC. I'm not sure if this is for next year or the year after but both have impressive offer lists.

Ward is extremely over weight and his work ethic will determine if he ever sees the field or not.

I am interpreting it as a lack of confidence in the development of our projects at tackle, and a possible wash-out by Ward (self-inflicted).
