And another one... Rutgers TE Charles Scarff Reportedly Will Transfer - TU Rutgers junior tight end Charles Scarff will transfer for the 2016-2017 season, as reported by Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com. Scarff led the tight end group at Rutgers with 14 receptions for 100 yards and one touchdown. Interestingly, Scarff was the third man on the depth chart behind redshirt junior Matt Flanagan and senior Nick Arcidiacono. Scarff moving on may clear the logjam. Scraff seemed excited to play for Rutgets when he entered as a redshirt freshman. Rutgers has had a history of sending tight ends up to the NFL, and Scarff called the program a tight end factory. He put on 20 pounds between playing with the scout team and starting camp his first season. Scarff will be the second tight end to transfer in the past few months. Anthony Folkerts, the fourth tight end on the roster, declared his intention to transfer in spring camp but has not found a new home. Scarff will be the fourth transfer for Rutgers since December. Scarff entered as a walk-on out of high school. The Big Ten guarantes four-year scholarships to full recruits, but allows one-year scholarships to be given to walk-ons. Scarff was one of the ones who managed to get one. Redshirt sophomore George Behr and redshirt freshman Nakia Griffin-Stewart still remain as backup options. While Rutgers has been loyal to using tight ends as other programs have left the position behind, they don’t run multiple tight end plays much, meaning playing time is limited. The limited opportunity for time of the field is likely what caused Scarff to seek other options
