James Franklin, their dynamic HC, was at Maryland before going to Kentucky. He was the UMd coach in waiting but Vanderbilt hired him away before the Terps could fire Fridge.

That was a major turning point for the Maryland football program. They had a chance to get one of the best young coaches in the game and ended up with Randy Edsall instead.

Anyway, Franklin has a rep as a great recruiter and has been recruiting the DC area for years. It is not a surprise he is having a major impact recruiting that area for the Wildcats.
