BC? Wait they still play football? I kid, I kid ... I am glad he is choosing Cuse to visit, I've been a Cuse follower since I was 6 and have lived and died with a lot of games there. Someday my perspective might be that of the one you have now, I will let my kids carve their own path but will always nudge them towards SU if need be :) I just know for me watching games was something I did with my dad for over 20 years and now that I live 1000 miles away I just get the obligatory call from my mom or dad going ... did you see that game???? I made it my mission to get my degree there and did (a B.S. in comp sci) and was able to parlay that into a decent career. I just know that aside from marriage and children the 4 years I spent there were the best of my life for many reasons, I learned about life and since I paid my own way through loans, scholarships and working I wasn't afraid to grind hard in the real world after I graduated. A guy like Shafer is really important, kids need strong pillars like him and yourself in their lives ... I was fortunate to have good parents and a high school math teacher who pushed me harder then any coach I ever had and helped me identify what I wanted to do with my life. When you truly put all that you are into a place like SU it does become a part of your fabric and I'm willing to bet that not only will it do for Shy what it has done for me but it will carry the same meaning. I'm glad that he will be a part of the resurrection of a proud and strong program and one that fits the persona of the region and the people that stand behind it.
