What was my assessment of Mali?
You don't think he is ready yet the guy has been talked about as being a top 10 pick and at minimum a first round pick. But you think Roberson is an NBA player. You can see how people are going question your assesments for college to NBA players.
Roberson has a SF body playing PF. He gives you virtually no offense and isn't as big as a Tristan Thompson nor does he have as consistent a motor. I'd be shocked if he ever plays in the NBA.
Nothing hard to understand based on where he was at last season.Actually I was a huge Christmas believer and knew what he was capable of which, but you wouldn't know that because it doesn't help your argument.
I never said Roberson wasn't a good player nor couldn't put up a great season. Playing well and playing in the NBA are two different animals. What position can Roberson play in the NBA? He surely can't play the 4 because of his size and he can't play the three because of his skill set. I don't know what's hard to understand about that.

I'm saying that he will improve enough this season to change that opinion.
Improvement changing the opinion of him being NBA material.Improving and doing very well isn't what is being discussed, it's about his NBA future.
And like 90 percent of the other people here, and on draft sites. Whoever Jeff Kelly is, he has some anger issues, may want to work on that.
That guy posts here as Jekelish. Hes a pretty good poster.
And the fact is that you doubled and tripled down on Mali making a mistake. This in spite of the fact that it couldnt be more obvious (except to you aparently) that Scouts/GMs were basing their assessments on data outside of six minutes of magic vs Uva.

Capt tuttle said "#5 - we would have had a different NCAA draw, and likely worse result." Maybe. maybe not. Was it more fun to watch a 10 seed proceed to the FF or been better as a 4, 5, 6 seed making it. NO criticism, just asking.
As for those who debat Robersons' pro worhtiness, if consisitancy was a criteria, Malichi would not be as highly thought of as he is. He was very streaky IMO. Good but streaky. I agree with those who point out how Xmas and G are good examples of guys who put it togeather their sr years to become prospects. Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Roberson have a nice looking touch from 12 ft towards the end of his freshman year? Some were perdicting big things his soph year but he hasn't shoot well.
Is he as tall as Charles Barkley? Not saying Robby is in his class, but people said the same thing about Charles before he went to the NBA. Too short. You have yet once to address his size issue.

Roberson does one thing really well, which will land you on an Nba roster most of the time, if he has a good year next year, he will end up on someones roster.
He averaged 8-9 rebounds per game. It's not like he has been some insane rebounding machine.

Thats not a bad number, we all know tr is inconsistent, but you look at the Duke game, and what he did in the tournament, and the potential is there.
Yes he did. You keep moving the bar. Height was your concern. I already said I was not comparing the two other than the fact both were undersized for their position.NBA top 50 player and hall of fame player.
Not all players are created equal. Charles also had a lot more in his bag of tricks than just rebounding.
To expand on this, John Wallace averaged 8.4 rebounds per game in college. Roberson averaged 8.5 rpg last year(i wont do his career avg because his freshman year where he barely played drags that down.)
So he's a similar rebounder to John Wallace. Well, Wallace was a complete nonfactor on the boards as an NBA player. He hung around for awhile because he could score.
Carmelo averaged 10 reb. per game at Cuse. He's a 6-7 reb. per game guy in the NBA. A good rebounder for a SF. Billy Owens averaged 11 rpg in a season at Cuse. He was a 6-7 reb per game guy in the pros. Obviously those two were/are really good at almost every other basketball skill and the solid rebounding at the pro level(elite in college) was just part of the package.
It's a different ballgame at that level. Roberson has not demonstrated the level of rebounding ability so far that would even have him on the NBA's radar for his rebounding skills, based on the numbers.
The blueprint for an energy guy in the NBA for his rebounding is Kenneth Farried, in my mind. He averaged 12 rpg for his college career, with over 13 per game as a soph and junior and over 14 per game as a senior. That's a whole different level from what Roberson has shown so far.
Reggie Evans might be another good example. That guy averaged over 11 boards each year in college at Iowa and led the Big 10. To be honest, I'm not sure he had a game under 10 boards. He was truly dominant in college and managed to hang in the NBA for about 13 years because of it.
