OMG! College Basketball has become Girls Field Hockey

It'll get lessen as the season goes.

agreed. Every game i have watched tonight has had teams in the bonus before the under 12 timeout.

Not sure it will lessen. There's a clear mandate to not even allow defenders to breathe on the opposition. The new rules are supposed to add offense, instead they've made the games disjointed and fugly.

Syracuse has never emphasized free throw shooting. We better get to work on it.

FIfty-four (54!) fouls called in a game that was not in the least physical. Absurd.

I will not complain. So sick of the hack and grabfest that college hoops has become.

If this is what it takes to put an end to it, then I will deal with the temporary misery. Players will adjust. So will refs(the ones who aren't ridiculously stupid morons like Higgins and Burr)

*Obvious exception is Syracuse games, in which I reserve the right to flip out over every foul called on the Orange.

I'm with DW on this one. The kids will adapt and the game will be better off in the long run.

There's inevitably going to be an adjustment period as players and coaches adjust to the new rules, which is what we're seeing right now. Sure, there are tons of whistles. But this will be make the game much more enjoyable to watch in the long run when the game becomes more like basketball instead of rugby, and I think we can all agree that games have been painful to watch the last few seasons because of how physical they have gotten. I, for one, am very glad to see the refs calling so many fouls.

Agreed. This ugly period will pass as players learn, perhaps for the first time, how to properly play defense.

I just hope they continue to call the fouls and make the players adjust as opposed to just giving up if the kids keep fouling

As I said in another thread, too many coaches for too long teaching players that defense is played with your hands and not your feet.

it can only help the game down the road- like another poster said-it became a hack fest
