The Big 5 conferences will make all the money. And if they aren't, they will change the landscape and the rules once again so they will. It's only a matter of time before the Big 5 conferences in some way shape or form split away from the NCAA and do their own thing. It's the way college sports is going. Players will be paid within our lifetimes. The NCAA as we know it and "student athletes" as we know it is a dying concept and model. There is no logical way to spin the Big East losing their AQ status as being a good thing. It makes it tougher for every school in the conference to recruit. It gives their conference champ no exposure at the end of the year on a national platform. It is overall bad for the conference. Even if the check cut to them is a few bucks more than it would have been IF they had an AQ and an Orange or Fiesta bowl spot, its still overall bad. Short Term small financial gain... Long Term SUICIDE! And if you think the SEC is looking out for the overall health of the sport, that is some naive thinking. The SEC might put on the illusion they care, but their actions show they don't, haven't, and won't going forward. And honestly I don't blame them. Larry Scott's quote is a joke. If the money is divided reasonably,...he said; pretty much telling all the schools in the small conferences like the Sun Belt, MWC, Big East...stay at home, let our schools get all the big bowl games and big paychecks, and a little more money will trickle down to ya in the end. Screw your fans, screw your student athletes/players, screw your coaches, screw your alumni, but at the end of the day the paycheck cut to ya is a few bucks more, so don't be bitching about anything. Thanks for looking out for the little guy Larry! GIVE ME A BREAK!
