They did have a three man front with a third safety, 3-3-5/Okie, but they did not put a sixth DB in.

Three times they only rushed three played zone behind it, and each of those worked, 3 yard dump off and a 4 yd gain, both in the middle of the field, and the third time was when Siemian scrambled. It worked exactly as designed, the DB getting called for a PI doesn't mean it was the wrong call or not played correctly.

The TD came against the base 4-3 and it was the only time they played man the whole possession. They brought four with a zone blitz by Spruill with Crume dropping back to play the middle zone. The inside receiver on the right went in motion to block and left one WR with Thomas and Lyn on his side, Crume in the middle, I think Lynch playing a short zone, and the other three guys manned up.

The other times they rushed 4, 5, and even 6 and played zone behind it. It resulted in two sacks, and three completions, and an almost interception. The biggest play was a 25 yard gain where it looked like a safety or lb didn't get deep enough in the middle. They came back with a similar coverage the very next play and Lynch did get deep enough and almost got the INT.

Doesn't matter. That wasn't the time to call that defense. Horrendous call by Shafer.
