Assuming he is gone that he cant get that year back

But look at todays ESPN QB ranking. #11 somewhere in Day 3.

You go back to 2010 and look at QBs drafted that late.

88 have been drafted
3 become solid starters. Cousins/Dak/Purdy
4 had some career and one of them is O'Connel who will be gone soon as the contract is over

its a 4yr deal worth close to a 750k with a bonus but not locked in money.

getting into day 2 is a big deal.

He keeps playing like this he will be day 2. System matters. Ohio state system made him look some way. Cuse system shows his capabilities
yup i think that's most likely. but if for some weird reason, the NFL folks say another year = better chance of more guaranteed money...I have no doubt we can pay him a million dollars to stick around vs. the low end nfl contract.

No question. He got close to that this year so I’m sure it could possibly even double too depending on how the rest of this year goes

Nice info, Interesting stats. I would think with 90 or so qbs on rosters, there would be more that 7 stick.

Do you know what people like Mel Kyper think? Usually “ESPN Metrics” on anything, (like 20% to beat UNLV) are garbage.

also in your analysis does 4 years/2.5 million for Nassib, but no meaningful role, count as a career?

I would think that is the floor for McCord.

I just found a site that reviewed it. I didnt look at much of the details at a high level.

Lots of the drafted guys get on teams and hang for the 4 yrs as cheap options and thats it.

Some got some minor cheap deals as well after that. But its few.

just go back 4 yrs Other than Purdy not much on this list is gonna do much for anyone
A couple have some random starts for desperation teams. And hey its solid money for yrs if they make it.
Most of these other than the bonus money didnt do much or make much.

I think we'd raise whatever the asking price is. He needs to be worth it in almost attendance and what comes with that alone, nevermind the future of our program. Pay this man.

The trend towards running QBs might mean no first round but he won't hang around long. He should be similar to Spencer Rattler where he's a 2 immediately that is close to starting.

Too accurate and too strong and arm to get stuck on a practice squad.

Speaking of Spencer Rattler that would be a good offense for him. Though Rattler better be nice to him!

It’s widely believed that McCord could get an extra year of eligibility if he wants it.
Based on what? The NCAA didn't give a waiver to Taulia Tagovailoa, who had a similar "garbage time snaps in a 5th game" scenario.

Definitely believe McCord will be gone next year. I do not see the NCAA granting another year of eligibility. If and it is a huge if, that he could get another year, he would be paid accordingly. It is crazy to think about, but we could hypothetically have every receiver back besides Meeks and every running back. Essentially the entire offense can return minus Meeks, Reed, Petry, and Bradford. Imagine this team with another year and portal additions against Tennessee in Georgia, would be fun.

Going to happen? 0.44% chance.

I may be biased, but I think he’s better than all of those guys. Bo friggin Nix was a first rounder starting in the NFL this year.
