BUT, Syracuse is a small town. The sports world is even smaller. It's hard for me to believe there weren't strong rumors and innuendo all over the place about BF's predilection for boys or at least his homosexuality (not that this is a bad thing, but rather as an indication that all wasn't as it seemed) and his wife sleeping around.

I covered sports for 9 years and heard more rumors than I cared to hear. I often didn't have any real substantiation to be able to go ahead and print things, but I hardly knew a lot of the people that I heard rumors about. Obviously many were likely false and born out of jealousy or resentment of some kind, but it is hard to swallow that JB was completely blind-sided by this.
