was let Shafer run his defense without much in the way of interference. He even let him fill that side with coaches he was comfortable with. If Shafer has any sense, which I think he does, he will do the same as head coach with the offense. And if he does allow the offensive coaches to mold their identity, I don't see any reason for Hackett to leave and take a demotion in the NFL. I'm sure that is part of Gross' calculation.

if Hack has the chance to stay and show he can do it without DM looking over his shoulder that helps him down the road and he gets to finish what he started with this offense. I hope Gross throws money at it and even a AHC title if needed .
