we were 11 for 23 from 3 (48%) and 16 of 18 from the line (89%) and we still had a difficult putting the game away. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled at the outcome. This was a must win game. It would be tough to see us making the tournament with losses to both St John's and B.C.

I thought about this as well

But Boston College is definitely playing better they did make a ton of mistakes and shot very well from three point range

Agreed but they also had a guy put up 25 who averaged 4 , but I see what your saying.

Our zone just forces the pace of games to be slower and as a result shorter possession per game and that keeps teams closer.

I thought once we made that run after BC took the lead in the 2nd half we were in control of the game. This team just needs to win games as style points don't matter for them but I get your point. Our D just causes the tempo to be so slow.

we slow it down to win and often if muddies the ends but when we were up 12-15 it was over.

Our defense was horrendous today . They missed a bunch of bunnies which led directly to transition buckets for us .

It could have been a totally different ballgame.

When we are scoring it seems we have a tendency to take it easy on D

When we are scoring, Lydon is in the game, and when Lydon is in the game at center, we often give up a lot of points at the rim.

Didn't we hit a bunch of threes down the stretch? I think the numbers weren't quite as good during the time where were having trouble putting it away.

Yah, he played out of his mind (avg. 4 points off the bench????). In the end it didn't matter, we pulled away and have won 4 straight against them since the last time they had an outer body experience from 3.

Agreed. I thought our perimeter d was not good today. Got a little lazy...

Agreed/ I think teams tend to play up (or down) to their level of competition (as UNC did when they played BC in their previous game). Yea, Milon had a career game, but BC's big scorer (Carter), who came in averaging 17 pts/game, only managed 7 pts. on 2-9 shooting. The zone taketh, and the zone giveth away.

Roberson missed several shots in a row, too. Some of those closer ones, if made, might have sped up SU's pull away.

We got those great shooting stats in pulling away and winning by 14 points.

Flawed to use the stats that helped us win by 14 points, and then use it against us by implying that we were staying close despite shooting 48%

Staying close would have been shooting 7 or 8 out of 23 (30-34%) not shooting 48%.

That stat is a little misleading. They started hot, then went ice cold from the field for about 15 minutes before waking up again. Over the final 15 minutes of the game, they went 7-8 from three. When they were actually hitting shots, it was a double figure lead.

BC was going to get blown out in the first half when we were up ten . Our guys relaxed .. Simple as that . They basically knew they could put them away any time they felt like it , and they sort of proved it ...not that I approve of this mentality

This and basically refusing to guard Milon almost the whole game. After the second or third 3 from him you would think they would have gotten the memo. Boeheim looked like he was going to have an aneurysm on the sidelines. Then Clifford was turned into an All-American which we have been known to do.
