but in the short run it makes way more sense to impose a new system on a program by cleaning house and bringing in a coaching staff that is already on the same page, rather than having to train a whole team of players and some coaches at the same time.  also, it helps rule out the small potential that the holdover coach may work to undermine the new coaching staff with players that like him.  the players have to either get on board with the new staff or get out.  it may be that hiring an all star team gives you a more talented staff, but maybe a staff of guys that are on the same page and like working together can be as or more effective.

maybe when you hire a coordinator that never hired a staff before, you can be like hey dude, you should keep dude X or Y, and he might do it to be cool about it.  but in this case there is a new AD, and new Prez, a new head coach that has been a head coach with some success, and they don't owe anybody jack squat and quite the contrary, they are seemingly cleaning up mess after mess.  you can not placate former players and they haven't.  they don't owe some assistant coach a damn thing, certainly not over a few players or a recruit here or there.  start winning some games and babers will recruit the pants off the other guys.

whether it works or not we'll see, but i like it that we are seemingly all in and i am more sold on babers than i would have been on frost.
