And that was the ACCN broadcast. Perhaps the worst football broadcast I’ve ever seen.
The two most critical plays of the game IMO- the Taj non-fumble and the penalty that led to Dino’s penalty - we saw one combined replay of the two. We saw 1 quick replay of Taj going into the commercial and then a replay they cut off midway after the commercial. There was no replay at all of the personal foul that led Dino to get flagged. And after showing Schiano rant and rave on the sidelines for 10 minutes, no shot of what Dino did to get that flag. It’s very unusual for a coach to get a penalty - how can they not at least show it once, especially after showing Schiano be a complete jerk and no repercussions. Overall there were very few replays shown throughout the broadcast.
the announcers were just as bad. The PBP guy seldom identified players by name (I’m still getting used to the guys in new numbers), and the color guy couldn’t stop talking about that Rutgers backup QB - who got stuffed half the time he was in the game. Made him sound like Earl Campbell. And the banter between them bordered on nonsensical.
The camera work was also shoddy. Often showing odd angles that didn’t show the play unfolding. A few times they didn’t cut from the QB after he released the ball.
I know it seems like a minor issue since our football program is such a mess, but I actually considered turning the game off because the production was so piss poor.
I guess that’s the quality of broadcast we deserve considering how bad we are.
