I got the chance to spend time with Marrone on several occasions (since he left as well). Do we send Christmas cards to each other? No, weren't not "buddies", but all of our interactions were positive and it baffles me when I read the ridiculous diatribe on this board towards him. It has honestly caused me to slow down from posting because it just gets so incredibly obnoxious to read. I remain very close to the Marrone camp today and it's hilarious how many on here just take internet rumors as facts. 90% of the negative stuff out there is amazingly false. Further, DM is loyal to his school and truly does regret how his departure from Cuse went down. Such is life... As a person IMO, Marrone is highly critical of himself and he clearly suffers from insecurity issues as kcsu alluded to. Many people say he is an egotistical jerk, but that image may or may not stem from the way he handles himself around people he doesn't know/trust. He 100% did not act like that when I was around him. He is more of a goofy, fun-loving dude. Someone you would meet for a beer and shoot the shitt. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of him, but few here actually know the guy. He chose a career that puts him in the spotlight, so he has to take the sharp criticisms that come with it. On a personal note however, I find it hard-to-read that some people can make such garbage character claims about the guy as they do on here without ever knowing the guy behind the scenes. It's funny and makes me shake my head. At the end of the day, we should still thank Marrone for coming back to Cuse and trying to re-steer our horribly lost ship. He made great strides and left too soon, no doubt; I was hoping he'd finish his career out at Syracuse. However, you can't blame a guy for taking the highest promotion in his profession and a huge financial leap. He has solidified his family's financial future forever and any sound family man on here would've done the exact same thing (I hope at least). Could his "dream job" have ended more smoothly? Without question, but do understand that he has to do everything his agent tells him to do from a legal perspective. That's something people don't quite grasp. He still truly bleeds Orange and I know that for a fact.
