Oronde Gadsden: Chargers

Oronde Gadsden II caught 5-of-7 targets for 46 yards in the Chargers’ Week 3 win against the Broncos.
Active for the first time this season, Gadsden was tied for second on the team with seven targets from Justin Herbert and regularly separated from Denver defenders. With Will Dissly (knee) sidelined, Gadsden worked as the main pass-catching tight end for LA, though he only ran a pass route on 17 of Herbert’s 58 drop backs. That Gadsden was targeted on a strong 41 percent of his routes could be an indication that a larger role is in store.

Ourlad's NFL Rookies of the Week:

Tight End

Oronde Gadsen / Los Angeles - A (Round 5)

The day three pick who played a receiver/tight end mix at Syracuse got on the field for the first time this season. He did not disappoint. Gadsden led rookie tight ends in catches, yards, and first downs. Justin Herbert looked his way often on first and second down but most importantly, it was Gadsen he went to twice on the game-winning drive in the fourth quarter.

He is going to be a stud in the league for a long time. Chargers stole him. Like honestly how much of a drop off from Tyler Warren (first round pick) to OG day three pick when it’s all said and done? Such a value pick! And no shade at Warren he’s a beast.

Well, Warren's a blocker as well. Gadsden's more of a hybrid TE/WR.

man i wanted the dolphins to snag him for old times sake. he's hybrid as stated above. i never really saw him as an NFL size TE . patrick surtain jr playing well in the league. give some more love to legacy drafting.

Yet finished with 7 catches on 8 targets for 68 yds (longest 21). Was the team’s leading WR until McConkey’s 42 yarder on the game winning drive. Without watching the game, guessing the D had to pay close attention to OG on that drive. He was 4-4 after the fumble, so it’s a good sign of the faith they have in him. Mistakes will be made, he’s a rookie. But he seems to be developing quite nicely and very quickly.
