Gadsden is a big tall kid playing slot WR for us right now, but we call him a TE. We don't ever line him up next to the tackle do we? If we do, I haven't noticed it, and I think i would as he would likely get blown up trying to block DE's. I think Gadsden currently would project to play WR or slot receiver in the NFL. And to me that is essentially what Kelce plays as well. Kelce isn't a TE that plays lined up next to a tackle either, at least not often. If Gadsden gains 30 more lbs he could play more like Kelce, but adding 30 lbs may not be his body type. To me our offense and KC's offense just scheme using a larger body as the slot WR to find mismatches. Now we probably use Gadsden for similar formations that Kelce is used in but Kelce is obviously using his physical strength out in the open field to get open way more than Gadsden does. As great as Kelce is I have a hard time saying he is the greatest TE of all time. To me a TE has to line up next to a tackle often and he doesn't. Kelce is just an elite very big WR. ITs almost like they need two awards. One for traditional TE's that are on the line and block a lot but can also catch passes. Then a separate one for hybrid TE's that mainly are lined up in the slot. Its two entirely different positions. Traditional really good blocking TE's don't have a chance at award recognition anymore because its all about the receiving numbers.
