Given that he'd occupy a tiny portion of cap room, there may be cash strapped teams that would love trading out some salary to bring him in at the low number he carries. Plus, if I'm right that year 3 is a team option, the team would be able to decide if he still has bargain value, or if it's worth cutting him for the salary slot and not carrying his money against the cap. I think the rules on this are pretty tricky, but I think there's also some maneuverability on his deal and what it counts for against the cap at certain times vs what he's guaranteed.

TL;DR - Brissett might actually be more valuable now in some ways and have a better chance of sticking in the NBA because he doesn't carry the same commitments a 1st rounder on a guaranteed deal does.
