Unless something drastically changes, Steve Addazio will remain Temple’s football coach, according to sources.

“He’s not going to Rutgers,” said one source with inside knowledge.

Multiple reports have put Addazio among the leading candidates for the Scarlet Knights job, which opened up Thursday when Greg Schiano was hired by the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Addazio replaced Al Golden at Temple in December 2010. The former Florida offensive coordinator led the Owls to a 9-4 record and a 37-15 victory over Wyoming in the New Mexico Bowl in his first season at Temple.

This is at least the second time in three months that Addazio was linked to a coaching vacancy. He was mentioned as a possible candidate for the Illinois job after Ron Zook was fired in November.

Addazio, however, stated that he wasn't interested in the Illinois job and wanted to remain in the Northeast, close to his hometown of Farmington, Conn.

I think Kyle Flood is getting the RU gig. If so good for him, he's a standup guy.

Good for him and good for us.

Good for him and good for us.
Yes, congratulations to Flood. My take is that RU couldn't afford someone with experience and had to settle for a failed assistant who was just demoted because he was a horrible offensive coordinator.

No money = no real option. RU has given up on trying to play big time football. Good decision on their part.

Although this is probably about holding their class together and not much else, he's a good guy. Since they don't matter to us anymore, I hope he does fine.

Be very interested to see how their 2013 / 2014 classes play out

Money is really not the issue here. Greg was getting $2.3 million per year. Addazio was getting $675,000 at Temple and Mario Cristobal $475,000 (approx.). Therefore we could double or even triple in the case of Cristobal and still be in the $800,000 per year SAVINGs in salary as you never have to pay the same or more for a new coach when the coach leaving was around for 11 years and was the highest paid coach at the end of this season in the Big East. These surplus monies can then go to augment the assistants salaries. Little of Gregs monies came from the Athletic department. As in many programs funds come from donations, boosters, secondary sources such as coaches shows, nelligan sports etc. These funds are very likely to continue. Therefore the money is there, it is timing question. IMO Cristobal remains #1 and Addazzio #2.

Addazio might be waiting for BC to open up, or uconn assuming P is a short term guy.

RU is losing enormous amounts of money trying to artificially support a football program that is not wanted. How much did the football program lose last year, $10 million? The debt payments on the stadium expansion that was not needed were almost $7 million alone. Every dollar saved might help keep this troubled program alive a little longer. I hope this works and RU football survives. Your friends in Syracuse are rooting for you.
