Just saw this. I still don't get notifications when someone tags me even though I have it turned on. About the indexing - it could happen but people would have to go back and edit their posts to something like: [type : scotch - brand: glenmorangie 10 year] to denote type of spirit and brand with optional year, flavor etc Either way, a couple of thoughts...NineOneSeven, I hate to be that guy but I think Dewar's is a blend - I am fairly snooty with naming things as "Scotch" unless it's a single malt and from the old country :) Case in point, my favorites are Glenmorangie original 10 year - I always have a beast 1.75 liter bottle hanging around. For the good stuff, I go with the Balvenie 14 year which is aged in Caribbean rum casks. I don't care what folk say, I need mine with a little ice. My dad was scolded in Scotland when he asked for the good stuff with water. Still. I need it to take a tiny edge off, but I still enjoy the taste. I drank J&B in high school which I didn't know at the time was a blend. I can't go near that stuff now - tastes just change. If you want to give it another go, get Glenmorangie and throw a few ice cubes in it, let it melt and give it a try. That to me, is one of the easier Single Malts, no fire - fairly mellow. For Irish Whiskey - it's all about the Dew. Tullamore Dew. But I don't drink it much anymore. I know that burbon has made a comeback but I don't do it anymore. I am with NineOneSeven in that Gin and Tonics are a tasty drink. Aside from that, when it comes to Cognac, I go for Corvoisier VSOP. All brandy is nasty to me, but Corvoisier is pretty nice.
