OT: Anyone been to the Rent?

Is the parking this bad? Granted this was for a full stadium. I doubt they fill it much for football. http://touch.courant.com/#section/2225/article/p2p-81668902/

I saw that article yesterday and it came off as pretty weird to me.

Guy seemed stunned that there'd be heavy traffic for a sellout event taking place at rush hour on roads that are always backed up at that time of day.

Then he didn't bother to orient himself to where he parked. And he let a 5 year old dictate both their departure time and his anxiety level.

The Rent is no great shakes but parking is one if the better things about the place from my experiences there.

I just skimmed the article the first time. Read it again after your response. You make some valid points. That is weird. He used to be a sports reporter as well so you would think he has been to an athletic event or two.

Yeah, a sports reporter in CT never having been to the Rent is like a sports reporter in CNY never having been to the Dome. It's unavoidable.

I think this article was written as click bait. The whole "my 5 year old ended up crying" thing struck me as Buzzfeed-style "you won't believe what happened next!" garbage.

I've been to the Rent several times. It has one of the best parking set-ups of any stadium anywhere. It is an ENTIRE old airfield.

Rent is at intersection of two interstates (91 and 84). If you have half a clue as to what you are doing... it is a VERY EASY in and out.

I was at the soccer game. I got out fast and was home on my couch twenty miles south of Boston before 11pm. Not sure what the issue is.

As for the "stadium," it's not much. Looks like it isn't finished. Very poor venue. Minor league feel all the way.

I agree with all of this - parking is very easy. However, the downside is, you get absolutely none of the wonderful feeling of being on a college campus in the fall. The area is so drab.

Oh my, his five year old cried? It takes A LOT for a 5 year old to cry. This must have been such a horrific and traumatizing experience for him. Let's all keep him and his family in our prayers.

Yep, it has all the charm of a big concrete stadium built on an airfield.

The Dome is like Wrigley Field mated with Hickory High gym in terms of atmosphere compared to The Rent.

TexanMark and I struggled to find our car after an SU-UConn game at the Rent years ago. It definitely could use more signs and more lighting. This was is the only time I have had a hard time finding my car after a game, and I have been to dozens of football stadia. To be fair, it was raining really hard at the time; a real Connecticut monsoon. Did not have a problem finding my car the other times I went to games there.

It is a decent little venue. Easy to get in and out of, close to I84 and I91. I think the writer is off base.

I have never been to the Rent but I love plural words that don't end in "s".

Sounds like the Friday night game in 2005 - GRob's first year. That entire season was a monsoon.

there is so much wrong with this, i dont even know where to begin.

even if there wasnt traffic, has he ever been to a live event in the post 9/11 World?? you basically have to leave your car and start the process of entering the Stadium 30mins prior to the start, if you want to see the start.

hey, eat your veggies and lets just show up 15mins early, park and waltz right in to our seat...

thats also not an event for a 5 year old. granted, its not akin to this weeks Judas Priest concert...but its certainly not a day Yankee game in June.

closer to Judas than Jeter though...

True.

Funny story though... I had the random opportunity to go to Game 1 of the Giants-Rangers World Series a few years ago. Was at a bar in SF pre-gaming and totally forgot that an 8pm first pitch meant 5pm on the west coast. So a buddy and me hurried to the stadium as the anthem was being sung. We waltzed into AT&T Park with zero security, not even a wanding or pat down, and went right to our seats in time for the first pitch. It was bizarre, knowing the hoops you gotta jump through to get into any venue in NY or New England.

It's like the parking garage episode from Seinfeld!

I've lost my car for about 5 minutes after a night game at the Rent though. Strangely enough, I wasn't emotionally scarred by it.

Yup...the first time I failed as a Navigator. Really horrible nite and it was raining really hard at the conclusion...I turned us the wrong way and started heading off into purgatory

Looking back at it, that was the lowest point in my life as a Syracuse football fan. It was an awful night weather wise, the team played terribly and lost to a bad team.

Then it rained in the hotel room that night after the game.

Good times.

They blasted the guy on Barstool… pretty foolish complaint, people will complain about anything these days.

This guy clearly just wanted something to complain about. It took him 20 minutes to find his car? Cry me a river.

That guys sounds like a tremendous pssy.
