OT: Beasley (FSU) declares for draft

I saw potential but not late First Round potential. Good luck to him, he was going to hurt us if he stayed.

He's a mid first rounder probably, who knows could slip into the lottery.

Supposedly Bacon and Rathan-Mayes are thinking about it also.

I'm betting he does. I hope he does too, FSU turns into BC lite.
They have a good 6-10 guy coming in that would have made this a nice team next year. Thats gone.

yeah because I think they lose a couple of seniors too

Better prospect than Malachi, but it's pretty close. Guys like this leaving make me nervous about our guys...

He's projected as a late mid to late first round pick this year by the scouting services. Bacon is as well.

They really aren't close at all.

FG%: 47% to 37%
3PT%: 39% to 35%
2PT%: 51% to 39%
TS%: 58% to 51%

And nothing about the rest of Malachi's game really helps him as a prospect. I'd be pretty shocked if Malachi is on the NBA radar right now, whereas Beasley has a chance to be a late lotto-late 1st round pick this year.

For comparison's sake, DraftExpress has Beasley as the #13 freshman in his class; Malachi is #57.

Oh I agree that Beasley is the better prospect and don't think Malachi is anywhere close to ready to go, but that's not really the point. Malachi, if truly 6'6", has that edge on Beasley, who I believe is 6'4". But the rest of the package favors Beasley, who's more athletic and a better shooter. But it's all about potential, and some team may see Malachi as having huge upside. I don't see it. I wouldn't be shocked if him and Lydon declared with every intention of returning to school unless they got a top 20 guarantee or whatever.

Beasley is the type that could make a climb during the workout process like Terry Rozier and Rashad Vaughn last year. This isn't a strong draft, so it wouldn't surprise me if he went somewhere around mid-late 1st.
