After 3 starts mind you against #13 Wisconsin, #1 Alabama, #2 Oregon it appears Buckeyes RS Sophomore Cardale Jones is going to enter the Draft. He will be the most fascinating QB prospect in this crop. You can't take him high because he is a project, but he has upside. Late 2nd/early 3rd round this kid will get picked and will have sit behind another QB and two-three years down the line be able to be a starter.

If I was a team in need of QB help immediately I wouldn't touch him, but a team like Dallas-Romo, GB-Rodgers, a team like that I would take this kid.

Smart, kids stock can't get any higher. But yet hardly any tape. Weird situation

I was listening to College Sports station on Sirius a couple days ago and a OSU caller suggested that Jones should go pro rather than the other two QB's. His take was that Cardale would last at least through his first 4 year contract, then if he didn't make it could get any job he wanted in Columbus. The guy may have had a point.

LeBron should sign him and make sure he is drafted by the Bengals or Browns.

when you have a chance at drafting a poor man's tebow with less than 100 college passes, you take it ?

that said, whatever, take qbs all the time. get a good one and no one will care about the misses

A risk for any NFL team, which is why he would go mid or late round.

From his point of view, going now looks like the right decision. There is a real possibility he will get beat out for the job by Barrett. Sitting on the bench for a year puts him right back where he is now (or even behind), except he'll be a year older. And he's at least 22 right now.

He would get paid next year in the NFL. He is going to get drafted. At Ohio State he is a platoon system at best and his stock is the highest it will be right now. I don't see Tebow in his game. Tebow couldn't make NFL throws. Jones has a stronger arm than Tebow he is going to need to go thru the draft process. I would take Jones in the middle of the draft and let him develop. I wouldn't let him on the field after pre-season next year. He would be my 3rd QB and wouldn't even dress him next year.

He is worth the gamble as how many 3rd-4th round picks become Richard Sherman, Tom Brady pro-bowl players?

Fixed.

Absolutely no similarity between Tebow and Jones. Jones has 10x the arm strength Tebow did and actually has a chance to develop into an NFL QB.

big moose in a urban meyer offense with questionable mechanics, no similarity at all

Why would you fix that the way you did? I can easily imagine companies wanting to hire him on name alone, regardless of degree or lack thereof.
There have been postings of Jones' Twitter complaining about having to go to a Sociology class and take an exam when he went to thatOSU to play football, not go to class.

Because you said "any job he wanted". Without the degree many companies wouldn't hire him regardless of who he is. Even in Columbus for an OSU player. I didn't say no one would hire him.

Ok, they are the same size. Tebow was a lot faster and better runner than Jones. Other than their size I see no resemblance in their games other than during a QB sneak. Teams better be careful drafting Jones, his playing ability is not the sole reason he was 3rd string.

Like most people say you don't normally call a press conference to say you are coming to school either.

He can thank Braxton Miller's right shoulder and JT Barrett's right ankle for this. He would've never even had a chance before that happened.

Fate.

I don't think of this guy as a Tebow-type player.

He is much more a giant Randall Cunningham.

I think he has to go now - there is no assurance that he even plays next year for OSU.

Might as well go on the strength of an amazing post season.

You know who he really reminds me of? An accurate throwing Terrel Hunt.

Gosh, I don't think so.

TH doesn't have the arm strength this kid has and doesn't have anywhere near the same speed.

And though he is listed at 6' 3" I've met Terrel a few times - I don't think he's that tall.

I think Jones would tower over him.

Hey, if TH can play close to what we saw the other night, I'm a happy man.

Well shut this thread down he is returning to school.
Well he can get his degree now.

passing up an opportunity to be drafted and make more money next year than his family has probably in the last 10-15 years. We'll see what happens with his decision, maybe he's not even the starter next year for OSU.

Got me thinking - when's the last time a potential top 3 round pick returned to college when his starting QB spot wasn't even guaranteed, or even favored?
