I'll start:

I was at North Syracuse Central...our bitter rival was in district Cicero High School. After that it had to be West Genny and Liverpool. West Genny normally kicked our butt in everything but the rivalry had its origins I believe from band. Marching Band competitions were serious things in the 70's. Cicero and North Syracuse combined back in the 80's to become C-NS. It is the largest high school in CNY.

I have no idea who C-NS's big rival is today.

CNS' main rivalry is Liverpool.

As a CNS grad now living in Liverpool, with kids coming up through the schools it's interesting for me to say the least.

Ilion -Herkimer. One of the oldest rivalries in the state. Was the game of the year in the Mohawk Valley. Rivalry became less of a yearly thing when Ilion went up in class and now it does not exist as Ilion has merged with Mohawk to become Central Valley Academy.

When I was at Liverpool in the late 70's, our rivals were North Syracuse in football (neither were very good), J-D in basketball ( great games with Holohan vs. Schayes), and NS in baseball. In baseball, the coaches were both long timers. Liverpools Bob Yudin was an old school, fundamental, play the right way kind of coach. NS coach Rudy Tucci was more of a style over substance guy but still won a lot. Classic games.

Good times back then...remember watching a Cicero vs Liverpool FB game at Griffin Field. My older sister went to Cicero and dragged me (willingly) as a punk middle schooler to hang out with HS kids.

I think NS looked up to West Genny as the team to beat and Liverpool really was probably our biggest rival after Cicero. North Syracuse really only had one good season ('75) when Mandel Robinson was running wild...otherwise we sux in FB.

Loved griffin field! Lots of football and baseball there in the 70's. close to Heids, too! It's no longer a football or baseball field ( since the 90's?).

Oswego vs oh who cares. Senior year I don't know if we won a game. At halftime we'd all leave and walk about 3 blocks to an undeveloped road and have a Dazed and Confused style beer blast (we didn't actually call them that).

Every game was a rivalry, in that sense.

Phoenix vs Mexico. Teams had to have police escorts away from the schools at times. Had Mexico trying to get into our locker room after my senior year FB game.

ESM. Early 70's. Rivals were JD and WG.

I quoted your post because I remember when Schayes was at JD in the mid 70s. Everyone feared Schayes but Dave Whiteside was JDs best player.

Who is Auburrns rival nowadays? In the 90's I know we didn't like FM or west genny but not sure they were really "rivals".

Whiteside was good, so was Andy Bright, a tough guard. Played against him a few times in the gym at Clarkson. He was strong.

Liverpool also had Brian Phillips and the McDermott brothers. Lots of talent all triggered by Holohan.

Impressed by the 14 year plan for HS...must of been kinda strange whenever you had to leave HS to pick up your sick 7th grade son from school.
