What was Duke doing shooting 37 threes versus a mid major anyways? Duke used to pride themselves on making more free throws than the other team attempted. They have become a soft, perimeter oriented program. Hence the flameouts of the past few years.

Interestingly enough, the bench argument is being thrown around over there. In this instance saying K develops a bench during the season but then tightens it in the postseason and players get winded.

3s are worth more points than 2s. Shooting lots of them is a good thing no matter the level of basketball.

Shooting 3s allow for the defensive team to get into transition easier and also limits the fouls that occur against the defense. The positive about shooting them opens the inside but they must take advantage. (Duke did not)

Shooting inside allows your offense to get offensive rebounds and draw fouls against the defense. Those defensive fouls set the tone in a game. If a star player gets 3 fouls in the first half then he sits for the rest of the half. If a player gets 4 fouls in the 2nd half then they usually do not return until the 6 to 4 minute mark. There needs to be a balance to be successful.

Yeah and Duke is usually pretty balanced. They happened to suck at 2s this game. Single elimination tournaments are great.

Their interior defense is god awful though.
