I've gotten some PMs and some twitter DMs about how my new job as a head collegiate coach was going so I wanted to post this after today's happening.

It's been an interesting year. An all freshmen lineup with only one returner (junior) - we've had lots of ups and downs at Earlham. We've knocked off 1 ranked team on our schedule (Rhodes College in Tennessee) and got into our conference tournament as the #3 seed with a 9-9 record (6-2 conference record).

We have won two matches this week, beat a very solid team that best us in the regular season, and play in the HCAC tournament championship tomorrow at 10am! There's an NCAA bid on the line which would be a HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT for our young squad. We are playing great tennis and I'm amped for tomorrow morning. May not sleep tonight! We're playing a phenomenal team tomorrw, so we will have to be on our A game.

Thanks to everyone for the support this season/checking upon me - and if you want to follow along - visit our website at www.GoEarlham.com or follow us on Twitter @ECQuakerTennis!

Cheers,
JB

Unfortunately - our season ended yesterday. Playing so many matches in so many days knocked us apparently, as we did not play very sound tennis in singles action.

We started off hot in doubles - going up a break in both first and second doubles. Our first doubles cruised to a great victory, while our second doubles let momentum turn, and ended up losing 5-8.

Singles began and we tried to grind back into the match, shifting momentum our way, but unfortunately RHU was playing very solid tennis, and came away with the match.

Great first season. I learned a lot over the past couple of months, navigating the little things of being the man in charge. I'm going to take a week to rest up, and then traveling starts for recruiting! Determined to get back to the championship game next year and turn it around!

As always, thank for your support. Looking forward to seeing many of you at the golf outing and tailgates this fall!

Our lineup for the championship match. I had to make sure I was wearing something lucky of mine - can you spot what it is...

by the way- the kid in the red hate. Only 17 years old and finishing his freshmen year of college. He was named player of the year and freshmen of the year today. Really proud of his hard work.

As a former D3 tennis player for a program that rarely achieves a winning record much less an NCAA bid, good luck!
