They both have football history with Penn State and could satisfy Penn State's request for regional rivals. I don't think Penn State has much history playing football in New England unless it's against Boston College. I thought UConn could help the ACC in New England, a region the ACC is trying to cultivate. I also have an interest in seeing the ACC add ice hockey some day even if it's in a partnership with Hockey East. I saw UConn helping with that long term as well.
