I am glad to see Denver win, but I just don't like the NFL OT procedure. Pittsburgh should get their chance at a drive too.

Surprised Big Ben took no for an answer when he asked the refs if he got a chance to score a touchdown of his own.

I had thought the spirit of the new rule was to ensure that each team got a possession. Had no clue that it didn't apply if the first possession results in a TD. Weird rule.

I hate the old rule, but cut out the middle man and either just go back to the way it was, or play an entire 5th "quarter."

The OT rules make no sense. If you score a field goal first the other team gets the ball but if you score a touchdown first the game is over. I'm sorry but that's just a stupid rule. And I was hoping Denver won. When they were celebrating I was confused because I thought Pitt got the ball too. Either just do sudden death or let both teams get the ball.

Because you won the toss?
I think its very fair. If you win the toss and drive 80 yards then you deserve it. If you start on d and stop the other team all you need to do is kick a fg to win it. It balances out.

Wouldn't giving both teams possession of the ball at least one "balance it out" even better?

But then where does it end. If it goes td-td-td then does the 2nd team to get the ball get a 2nd possession?

The NFL does not want college style OT where teams can score forever in OT. Basically a td is checkmate. I like this alot atm and would like to see more of it to see other more reasonable outcomes. Not sure i can say this way sucks when i have only seen a 1 play fluke outcome as my only example.

The one thing i dont get is why they wouldn't make it the regular season OT rules first since you would get way more attempts to see how it plays over multiple games.

The NFL hates games that last longer that 3:15. That's why you see Sudden Death in the regular season.

I actually like the rule. If you score a td you deserve to win.

Especially if you do it from 80-yards away on the first play from scrimmage. The Steelers D is the top D in the league. They had their chance to stop Denver and didnt. I don't feel sorry for them.

Not bad for a QB people have said all season can't throw or play the NFL game.

I get wanting to incentivize teams to score a TD, makes OT more exciting. But they were kinda copying college football with their both teams get a possession concept, and they only went halfway. Most pro fans hate college OT anyway, so seemed like a needless rule change to me.

It's only a matter of time before the NFL eliminates FG's altogether. Next phase out rule will probably be to drop them to 2 points.

Here ya go... how bout you go ten minutes, possessions start at the fifty after a score, and you can't punt or kick field goals.

First off, im pumped Denver won. Love them as a team and Ill admit I have a serious man-crush on Tebow...that being said the way Overtime should be handled is like the opening fight scene of Troy. Tebow is obviously Achilles in this scenario.

I dont think it is as much about encouraging TD's as it is trying to eliminate the 15 yard completion and kick a FG ending.

I'd like both teams to get a shot no matter the result of the first drive, but it's definitely an improvement from the sudden death.

Yes, I absolutely agree that each team should get at least one possession.

Nonetheless, Denver deserved to win since the refs so badly blew the backward lateral call that would have almost certainly iced the game for Denver much earlier.
