Don't know if I should post this here or on the main football board but the local paper is doing a eries on early recruiting...a post on the EO thread brought up the issue...

A couple of quotes that stood out:

"According to Farrell, the University of Mississippi made 239 verbal scholarship offers for the 2013 recruiting class. South Carolina wasn’t far behind with 167 verbal offers, while Clemson had 134 for the 2013 class."

"One of the biggest problems with getting so many early verbal commitments is that schools are sometimes stuck with prospects they don’t want. Or, they miss out on a prospect who developed later in his high school career."
