Here in Kingston, Ontario (population 125,000) we are dominated by two major circumstances - Queen's University and numerous Federal and Provincial Government workers (we were the first capital of Canada). Queen's is one of the premier Universities in the country and it is very difficult to get accepted. Enrollment averages about 25,000. Syracuse is a bigger city and SU student enrollment is about 22,000 from what I can see.
My next door neighbours both work at Queen's. They told me yesterday that approximately 75% of classes this fall will be of the "virtual" variety. Being a university town, this will have a major impact on restaurants, bars and rental facilities. Major economic hit for our community.
Is it shaping up to be about the same in Syracuse?
