I don't usually post things like this and will take the brunt of any complaints for "clogging up the board," however I was hoping to recruit some of the Syracusefan nation to vote for my father, Jim Hoover. He is one of 8 nationwide finalists for the USA Today HS coach of the year. Of course it is just a popularity contest, but still would be cool for him to have a good showing. He has been coaching at the same high school (Walton) for close to 40 years and is 2 wins away from 300. When he reaches that milestone he will be one of only 5 coaches in NYS to have 300+ wins.

If you are willing to vote or share the link via Facebook/Twitter here it is: http://contest.usatodayhss.com/vote/bestcoach2013/final

If not simply ignore this post.

He's got my vote. Quite an accomplishment, reaching 300 wins.

"294-75-1 record and has won 14 sectional titles."

damn. he's got my vote.

Thanks, everyone. If you are really bored you can actually vote as many times as you wish :)

Done 4080 votes so far! Wow - great job. By the 3rd time that I voted he had 4169 votes.

I'd really appreciate it if you stopped clogging up the board with non-SU basketball related dialogue.

Sincerely,
The guy who started the Leo vs. Jeter thread earlier.

Lol! Awesome.

I voted something like 10x... Up to 15,909! Good luck!

Hey, guys, we won Poc44 some money for his non-profit volunteer organization a few years ago. We can do this too. BTW, where is Walton, anyhow?

It's another day... so it's time for another 20 votes/person for Hoov50's Dad.

About a two hours southeast of Syracuse or two hours southwest of Albany depending on the direction you are coming from. Mostly back roads which was the reason I finally have up my basketball season tickets a few years back and only go to 3-4 weekend games a year.

I hit that site like a punching bag for 10 or 15 minutes each morning. Want to at least see our guy beat out that punk in slot B. Okay, Coach B is probably a terrific person and a wonderful coach but I don't appreciate all the votes he is getting.

Just finished up all the major work I had for the day. Now I can dedicate one screen for work, and one screen for voting. You got me until at least lunch time.

Over 40,000 votes but coach "E" 's fans have come alive overtaking Coach Hoover. Coach E is a Petal, Mississippi high school coach? No way.
