Competitive kids who are confident and have character. Why didn't I think of that. I've been focused on finding kids who don't care about winning and are unsure of themselves. Time to change our strategy.

No matter the skill level of the player, Bennett believes possessing a certain degree of “competitive fight” and “grit” is mandatory.

Well, when we got punched in the face last night, it certainly appeared that we had neither of these.

I think it might be just a bit more nuanced than that.

He definitely knows what he’s looking for beyond talent and he is damn good at identifying it in people. You could argue he is the best recruiter in the country based on the results.
