Doesn't anybody in Tallahassee have the awareness to know how painfully moronic it is to hear those same stupid 12 notes before EVERY FSU offensive play. MFG. At first it's a nuisance and then it becomes unbearable - like a Chinese water torture. Then it becomes more like something you'd hear at a mental institution to alert patients it's time for their meds.

I'm sure FSU makes a lot of friends out on the Seminole reservation with this one-dimensional caricature of Indian war preparation. I'm not playing the politically correct card here (I liked the Saltine Warrior), I'm just saying it's a mindlessly unimaginative and maniacally repetitive War Chant that irritates more than a telemarketer. How is that kind of predictable tradition of playing it before every freakin' offensive down inspiring to anyone?

Now I'm up at 3 am because I can't get it out of my head. At least the Notre Dame fight song goes somewhere.

Before being so reflexively PC, do some homework. The Seminoles are cool with the logo.

It's only angst ridden white people, with touch time on their hands, who care about the issue.
New poll finds 9 in 10 Native Americans aren’t offended by Redskins name
The American tribes have far greater things to worry about, like poverty and high suicide rates.
Perhaps the logo haters, such as yourself, should put their time into helping the tribes with those very real issues, instead of worrying about logos and mascots.

While those opinions matter - it’s not just their history. It’s our American history. It’s shared. The case can be made that the use of those logos doesn’t show enough understanding of our own part in a deeply abhorrent moment in our history as a country.

While I agree that “real issues” could and should come first - you can put them all in the same pot and call it “things that suck that need changing”... rebranding is relatively easy compared to dealing with systemic poverty and racism.

Lighten up Tut, I feel you were poised to jump down somebody's throat about Political Correctness, but I ain't biting. I'm just talking about the inanity of the repetitive 12 note song on national television. As an aside I mentioned that it probably gains FSU no favor in the Seminole community, despite gushing lip service in an FSU communication. Logos, mascots and Native American co-opting is a red-herring masking far greater problems. Your link seems to indicate they don't care so much about these things. So be it.
But then you go off the rails with "Logo haters such as yourself." Where does that even come from. How do you extrapolate a light-hearted "Hey they played that goofy fight song way too much" into a Reflexively PC, logo hating guy w/"touch time on their hands?"
Sounds like you were ready to pounce or at least misinterpreted my intent (a liitle fun observation on a stupid song).
Lighten up Tut. It's about the song not the Indian stuff. Next time pounce on how I said I liked the Saltine Warrior. That doesn't sound like a white guy that's worried about mascots does it?
There are serious unremediated issues in the Native American community, but they are not addressed by me here in a Fun and Lively Fan Forum.

Yeah, I think you need to reread the OP. Talking about the song, not the mascot.

It's what FSU does. And it's awful.

I love hearing that song during FSU games. There's something special about college football that you can close your eyes with some teams and know who is playing. I wish we had coordinated notes on different down plays and results.

Like I said yesterday, I wish they'd bring their band up to the Dome.

When Oklahoma came to the Dome in 1994, it took me weeks to that that fight song out of my head. There isn't much to it, and they play it over and over and over again.

College football... it's the best.

It's very well known that the Seminoles have a good relationship with FSU and Osceola is an actual Seminole.

However, Oren Lyons has spoken on campus about how the Cleveland Indians and Washington Redskins names are offensive so it's not just "angst ridden white people".
