OT: Great football movie - Woodlawn

Looks like a good movie...I hope it doesn't get the Disney Treatment.

they didn't I was happy to see. Safe to say this is what we had hoped (you and I at least) that The Express would be in terms of impact. According to Nathan its pretty spot on accurate of what happened to him with very little hollywoodization.

It's a faith based film no doubt but the least in your face one I've seen. As Sean Astin put it it's evangelicalism that that's tolerable and doesn't put one on the defensive if that's not ones bent. Think it's gonna be huge. Another clip:

Dang, didn't know Rudy was in it ;)

Well if we're talking about upcoming football movies, I know we don't particularly care for UT because meh, screw 'em, but my wife's uncle was a linebacker for the UT team depicted in this movie so I'm certainly curious about it:

Our own Dan Vaughan (LB from the Marrone era) has a role in it also. Hes an actor out in Hollywood now.

That is really interesting. I would have never guessed.

I actually had an opportunity to hang out with the main actor and the director of Woodlawn for a few hours, they were/are interested in having Athletes in Action be involved in this film at both a sports & ministry level. I got to see pre-screening and give input and feedback on the film, I've heard the final cut is actually somewhat different from the version I saw, I'm interested to see how it turned out.

Hollywood has butchered so many potentially good sports movies that I tend to avoid getting my hopes up on them.

The Express really turned me in that direction also. Ernie Davis is totally a story that you DON'T need to "Hollywood" to have an amazing story and they still played loosely with a lot of the facts. But I'll give Woodlawn a chance. The preview I saw in the theater this week looked excellent.
