It won't fit this survey's definition of "cool," but I always thought the village of Groton was a pretty wild place: its one of those towns where there are at least 2x as many bars as churches, and the two main ones were across the street from each other at one end of Main Street. Big biker town - some nights you couldn't park because there would be lines of custom Harleys filling both sides of Main Street. Lots of really rough looking characters, and I saw a couple of hellacious bar fights there.
