I am heading the the DR (Punta Cana) this sunday for 10 days for my honey moon. We are staying at the Melia Caribe Tropical. What is there that I have to do or have to see while I am there? We have 3 other couples joining us for part of the trip and are planning on booking a Dunebuggy excursion as well as a Booze Cruise excursion. Also plan to golf at least 5 to 8 times.

any other tips or pointers?

thanks in advance.

I stayed in Puerta Plata twice ... loved it. Not sure how far that is from Punta Cana pretty sure its across the island. At any rate they have a casino there (it was being built when I was there several years ago) and a Seaworld style park where you can swim with the dolphins, sharks and sting rays. Pretty awesome.

I also went to Punta Cana for my honeymoon. Stayed at the Riu. Bring plenty of high SPF sunblock. The DR is just across the street from the sun.
I'd also advise that you take a cab, not a bus, to and from the airport. Avoid the tour buses because it will take you forever to get to your destination.

As Kaiser said, leave some wife time.

we have some other plans that are just for the two of us.

Ok, and this is none of my business and you can tell me to shut up if you want, but you should also leave some time for boning.

ha ha ha!!! no worries there buddy!!! We plan to "make time" to "make time". becuase we both know darn well if we get too deep into the fruity umbrella drinks that things can either get wild...or not get at all!!!! lol

Don't be surprised if the towards the end of your stay the hotel workers start asking for your clothes and shoes. It's a very poor country and I ended up giving away lots to my "friends". I'm sure someone there is sporting a nice Orange tee.

We went to Punta Cana a few years back. Stayed at an all inclusive where the casino stayed open until 4 am and the sports bar stayed open until 5 am. Most nights I put my wife to sleep about 11 pm and then went out and gambled and drank. I don't think we did any sightseeing. We walked the beach a lot. It's a great beach. There was also a lot of little shops nearby which we went to to walk off all the food and beverages we consumed. I liked it a lot. My wife was lukewarm. We met lots of people from upstate NY.

Whether the place you are staying is an all inclusive or not, you still want to become best friends with the bartenders. Your best bet is to bring lots of ones for tips and a big insulated mug that your new best friends will fill up for you. I believe Walmart and Lowes sells the Bubba mugs and they come in different sizes. I saw a lot of Canadiens with the 52 oz version but that was a little large for me.

Also sometimes at all inclusives they keep the "good" liquor underneath and you need to ask for it. Otherwise you just get house brand.

Stayed at The Excelence. Great time! Did a bunch of underwater excursions as wife and I are scuba certified. We also stayed on the Atlantic side of the island, so the waves were a bit rough. Also be prepared to drink a lot of mamajuana shots. Enjoy yourselves!!!

yes, we were also advised to bring small dollar tree type trinkets for tips along with ones for housekeeping.
