My only gripe is: do it without having to make a deal on social media. Let someone else leak the story.Apologies if already posted.
I’ve never been a fan of Calipari, too many snake-oil/car-dealer vibes from him. And honestly, I don’t think he’s a great coach- maybe the best recruiter ever, but lacks the in-game X’s and O’s to be a consistent champion.
But I also didn’t know he was the son of a WV coal-miner, always pegged him as a Jersey, Philly, maybe Vegas kinda hustler. Give credit where it’s due though- this is a great story:
John Calipari will give VIP experience to coal miner and his family from viral photo at Blue-White Game
Calipari tracked down a coal miner who brought his son to the Blue-White Gamewww.cbssports.com
Read the story. He used social media to track this guy down. It wasn’t self promotionMy only gripe is: do it without having to make a deal on social media. Let someone else leak the story.
That will cost you $2500We still doing “PayPal Cal” huh
Totally thought this was going to be a troll job
Not according to Wikipedia - born in Pennsylvania and dad was a working man, a steel worker . Nice story though.Apologies if already posted.

“Calipari was born in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. He is of Italian descent. He attended Moon Area High School and graduated in 1978. His father worked in a steel mill and later at an airport. His mother worked in the school cafeteria, serving pizza.”
Steel worker or coal miner - neither easy jobsHis grandfather was the coal worker.

I loved pizza day at Smith Rd Elementary...it was a craptastic square...but tasted so good to 10 year old me. Oh and the Apple Crisp...the sugar coma from that sugary, gooey glob on top of the applesauce.Slinging public school pizza is no picnic either.
It is when he does it under his account. An intern could have done it for him. It's a really good gesture and I don't mean to take away from it, but it's also self promotion.Read the story. He used social media to track this guy down. It wasn’t self promotion
And that could just be your own personal bias talking. You realize his account will cast a far wider net than an interns, right? It is when he does it under his account. I was going to point out that Cal's 1.5 million followers would be a more effective way to track the guy down than some intern who is only followed by his friends - but I wasn't sure I wanted to get involvedAnd that could just be your own personal bias talking. I think what is meant it could have been put on the Kentucky basketball twitter rather than Cal's. But I've got no.problem with Cal doing it.I was going to point out that Cal's 1.5 million followers would be a more effective way to track the guy down than some intern who is only followed by his friends - but I wasn't sure I wanted to get involved
If Boeheim did the same thing, there would be 8 threads started lauding him. Two of them by the capt. including one on the support forum.I think what is meant it could have been put on the Kentucky basketball twitter rather than Cal's. But I've got no.problem with Cal doing it.
I’d have to agree. If Boeheim did the same thing, there would be 8 threads started lauding him.
