I am heading up to Syracuse tomorrow morning to visit with my family for a week. If anyone knows anyone who is hiring and might be interested in someone with 22 years of military experience, 20+ years of management/supervision experience, 15+ years of training experience, currently working as a government contractor in physical and personnel security and willing to learn anything; I would be very grateful for a hook-up. I am getting pretty desperate to get to Syracuse on a permanent basis. Thanks!!

I know it would take time to eventually get hired but you may want to consider a career in law enforcement. I know as a supervisor in a medium sized town in North Carolina, they favor previous miltary experience. The management aspect is just icing on the cake. There are currently three guys on my shift now that are former military. I do not know what if any agencies are hiring in the Syracuse area. It took was too long of a tedious process when I lived there so I came south. Fwiw.

Thanks, I appreciate the thought. The problem is, most Law Enforcement agencies will not take a person that hits a certain age; I am afraid I have hit that age, almost 50. I actually worked 13 years Security Forces in the AF, 5 of which were Law Enforcement.

Oh. I should have figured that into the equation. Sorry. Good luck on the job hunt, I am sure you will find something to your satisfaction.

Good luck brotha, I'll let you know when I hear back from Drum.

Maybe try for security at the Nine Mile/Fitzpatrick nuclear plants outside Oswego. They pay pretty well and like guys with a military background.

Also you could try Homeland Security/Border Patrol up that way.

(I don't have any ins with either alternative)

Yes I know, my brothers have already informed me. I might actually get to like some liberals. :) It will only help that we all bleed orange.

Hey weedsport they fly drones out of the Hancock field military part of the airport and have been having lovely little protests outside recently they might be looking for some additional security management to add to the detail don't know if that might be active duty only or not.

Lockheed always a good option they need a secure campus and military is their game.

I have applied to four different jobs over at Lockheed but haven't heard anything yet. I heard that over in Rome they got a contract for drone testing as well, but I do not any idea who to contact to see if they will be doing any future hiring.

Funny thing is I flew in to Syracuse today and the wife picked me up at 0950 hours. She took me over to Gems Diner for B'fast. We sat down and no more than a minute after sitting down I received a call from GE aviation to set up a phone interview for Monday at 1000 hours for a Human Relations Manager. When I applied on July 26th the job description said Syracuse but could also be in Norwich, Binghamton, Oneida or Rochester, on the phone he mentioned it was Norwich. Hopefully the interview goes well and we will go from there.

You might check on Turning Stone. Saw on Twitter that there are lots of open positions there.

Problem with Turning Stone I would stay and gamble my paycheck away. Seriously, I will take a look though.
