OT: If Nebraska Wanted To Play Football...

Add them to replace Liberty...

and make it a 2 for 1

They will never leave the Big 10. They can't afford to leave. The buyout to get out of a conference is insane these days. Plus they aren't dumb enough to walk away from the BIG 10 TV money and the Big 10 payouts and take less $$$$ from the Big 12.

They got their panties in a bunch and are throwing a 24-48 hour temper tantrum. Cooler heads will prevail here at Nebraska in a day or so and they ain't going anywhere. They can't afford to...lol

Thamel says they can't play and remain in the Big Ten.

If Nebraska wanted to leave the Big Ten and play this year. They likely could challenge the GOR in a NE court and it would be an interesting case. With a pandemic and force majeure they could argue that is why the agreement doesn't remain binding.

Other conferences would sweat this though and whomever took Nebraska would be making an awful big enemy in the Big Ten.

Would love to see this though.

What if they played the stragglers from other Conferences? Michigan, Penn state, maybe Others? (Oregon, etc...) Throw in some Army, etc.

My guess is that the GOR has a clause in it that stipulates that the agreed upon venue for such suits is somewhere like Illinois or Ohio.

Not saying this would work, but UNL may be able to argue an impossibility or Act of God as a basis for avoiding a B1G penalty. The GOR assumes the teams play and the games. As the B1G has formally decided against playing (at least for now) the B1G is in a weaker position to enforce the GOR. So long as UNL plays in the B1G in the next regular season, the GOR would not be violated.

Though it can be argued that the conference may play in the spring, there is no guarantee, in fact, there is no plan, only speculation. This weakens any claim that the GOR would be violated if UNL, or any other team, plays this fall.

While I personally would be content to see the B1G not play, or better yet, perform an about face and play this fall, it is a possibility for a B1G or PAC team.

Obviously there are a myriad of other issues, chief among them scheduling games, if a school goes rogue from a non-playing conference could actually play.
