Didn't I just see something similar in a college game this weekend? Offense was doing a shuttle pass and a linebacker picked it off between the QB and the RB. Ran it in for a TD.

Yep, it happened in the Pitt and Clemson game.

Amazing he had the presence of mind to disregard going for the tackle. Pretty incredible. I would put Dungey throwing an interception and then going to get it and ripping it out of the guy’s hands right up there.

They had watched film of the other team so the defensive player knew exactly that a pitch play was happening. He went for the ball and made a great play.

It would have been hilarious if the qb faked the pitch. That guy would have been 15 yards in the backfield with nothing to show for it.

it's like a db breaking early and jumping a route. you can be a hero or a zero. thing is people remember the picks more than they do the misses for huge yds.

Happened in a HS game I played in, in the late 70’s. Unfortunately, I was the QB making the pitch on the option.
Turned it around and picked off a screen pass as Mike LB on defense.
